SEED KEEPERS by Cynthia West
About the book, Nina Simons, Co-founder of Bioneers and author of Nature, Culture and the Sacred writes: “Your book of poetry, Seed Keepers, is blessing my heart/mind/spirit wide open, and causing me to feel admiration of your courage, skill and eloquence as a poet. It is at once raw, real, lyrical, elegant, and profound, an offering of medicine that’s pure and beautiful as all your transmissions have been. Many thanks.”
Excerpt from SEED KEEPERS:
No Roads
To learn how to reach
the country with no roads,
climb a mountain
every day. When yellow leaves
pattern the wind, you will be given
new feet that know how to travel
through change. With your hands
empty from letting go,
prepare for departure by cleaning
the windows, maintaining
the shrines, becoming the nothing
required to enter the sky land
with no need for a body. Stand by
the river thanking the water
that carries your face
in fast, shining ripples.
