The Platinum/Palladium Printing Process dates back to the mid-1800s and is one of the truly archival photographic processes. Kennedy works with only Palladium metals, as any addition of Platinum will make the image cooler in color. Both metals are equally archival.
Fine art paper or another substrate is sensitized in the process with a mixture of ferric oxalate and palladium. The sensitizing is accomplished by pouring the sensitized solution (the emulsion) onto the paper and then brushing it on evenly with a fine brush.
Depending on the final print's desired look, you may use one or two coats. Kennedy's prints are always double-coated for added richness.
