Devo, 1982 - Penthouse Magazine shoot
This was shot for Penthouse Magazine - yes, people did buy it for the articles! The room was constructed from plywood, featuring a 12 x 12-foot opening at the front and a 4 x 6-foot opening at the back. We used approximately 5,000 sheet rock screws and 2,000 pounds of potatoes (sliced in half), then pushed them onto the heads of the screws. A fog machine finished the look. We had to work all night to get the potatoes up, as we knew they would begin to fall as they dried out.
