16 x 20 Archival Pigment Print

“As a collector of moments I try to be a diligent observer wherever I find myself. The reason for a photograph can be an event, a color, light, form - or simply the arrangement of things. That exposure happens in an instant, spontaneously, triggered by instinct.

In contrast, any association with meaning(s) often occurs later, when there’s time for contemplation and interpretation.

This image, the simple observation of a moment, takes on meaning when placed in the context of an idea, a theme, a thought.

Its connection to the theme "Disappearing World" is independently formed in the mind of each viewer, and at its best reinforces a personal view or provokes new thinking.”

Mark Berndt applies over 40 years experience in film, photography and advertising to creating images that capture and touch the human spirit. His environmental portraits celebrate people where they live and work, and his narrative images capture life in the moment, revealing the instance and substance of human interaction.
