“I have always enjoyed looking at things. I am a compulsive “voyeur” and the task of recording what I see is just a logical progression. What really excites me is when I can strip the unnecessary elements from the scene and narrow it down to its basic essentials. At this point it becomes something different— something unique than what is apparent on the surface.”
David Saxe was born in Montreal, Québec, Canada in 1943 and studied fine art at l’ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal. He became interested in becoming being a photographer after viewing the work of Robert Frank, Andre Kertez and Henri Cartier Bresson.
For 4 years, he studied with the Canadian photographer John Max and participated in a number of group shows and solo exhibits in Canada before moving to the United States in 1992 he now spends his time equally between West Palm Beach, Florida and Santa Fe, NM.
