george lange

The more automated the world becomes, the more clients seek ways to humanize their stories—and that is where George Lange's photography shines brightest. Whether creating intimacy with the musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony or documenting a global 2025 project for AWS to reveal the humanity behind their leading generative AI partners, his work is always centered on people—on connection, joy, and truth.

That sense of joy has been at the heart of Lange's photography since childhood. Every subject he has photographed, from everyday individuals to cultural icons, carries that thread forward. Along the way, he studied at RISD, worked under Annie Leibovitz, and built a career that has taken him around the world. His work has appeared in nearly every major editorial publication and for clients including IBM, AWS, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Cardinal Health, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, the RK Mellon Foundation, Crocs, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He has also found deep meaning in collaborating with nonprofits, arts organizations, and community groups.

Lange grew up in Pittsburgh, and after years in New York, Santa Monica, and Boulder, he returned home in 2018 with his wife and two boys. Pittsburgh remains the most generous place he has ever lived, and coming back has given him a renewed perspective on both his city and his work. He often describes his body of work as a parade that began when he first picked up a camera at age seven. Every person he photographs takes their place at the front of that parade—until the next subject steps in. And once someone enters his parade, they remain part of it forever.
